The tour features winner Melissa Lawson, and fellow contestants Gabe Garcia and Shawn Mayer.  On August 4, 2008 Melissa was declared the winner of the contest over runner up Gabe.  She is the sixth “Nashville Star”, following previous winners Buddy Jewell, Brad Cotter, Erika Jo, Chris Young and Angela Hacker. The sixth season marked the first time Nashville Star was featured on NBC, after five seasons on USA Network.

Following Lawson’s win on Nashville Star, her debut single, “What If It All Goes Right,” was released to country radio on August 5, 2008 and peaked at #49 on the Hot Country Songs chart. With the win comes a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records. Her debut album will be produced by Nashville Star judge John Rich.
