After his elimination from Idol, he was given a record deal by RCA Records. The band that was formed, Daughtry, released their self-titled debut album which sold more than one million copies after just five weeks of release, becoming the fastest selling debut rock album in history. In its ninth week of release, the album reached number one on the Billboard charts. Chris Daughtry is now the third most successful American Idol contestant in terms of record sales, behind only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, who both won their respective seasons. At the 50th Grammy Awards, he was nominated for Best Rock Song for “It’s Not Over”.

The band’s second album, Leave This Town, was released on July 14, 2009. The first single, “No Surprise,” was released on May 5. Leave This Town debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 selling 269,000 copies in its first week. The record was also No. 1 on the Digital Albums Chart and the Rock Chart. With the release of Leave This Town, Chris Daughtry made American Idol history by becoming the first ‘Idol’ to have two consecutive #1 albums. He is followed by Carrie Underwood with the release of her third studio album, Play On, debuting also at No. 1 on Billboard 200.

Daughtry has played shows in Australia, as well as the United Kingdom and across Europe for the first time and opened for Bon Jovi for several shows in November. They were featured as the opening act during Bon Jovi’s Lost Highway Tour.

Band to Perform Songs from The July 14 Release of LEAVE THIS TOWN, the Follow-Up to Its Quintuple-Platinum Debut

Tickets are available here

NEW YORK, June 30 /PRNewswire/ — Daughtry will embark upon a short club tour this August, starting just weeks after the release of LEAVE THIS TOWN (19 Recordings/RCA Music Group), the follow-up to the band’s Grammy-nominated and quintuple-platinum debut.

Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely will use the intimate shows to perform many of the songs from the new album on stage for the first time. The 13-date tour will kick off August 2 in Orlando, FL and end August 22 in Las Vegas, NV. Tickets go on sale July 11. Daughtry will offer limited VIP packages as a pre-sale July 8th – 10th.

“This club tour is a thank you to our loyal fans. Its a great way for them to see us up close and, more importantly, at a cheap price,” says singer Chris Daughtry.

More than a month before its official release, LEAVE THIS TOWN is already generating considerable buzz for its musical range.

Rolling Stone: “The surprisingly diverse results include everything from the clubby ‘Supernatural’ to the fiddle-driven Vince Gill duet ‘Tennessee Line.’” … “‘Call Your Name’ [is] an anthem reminiscent of ‘November Rain,’ complete with a stirring key change, falsetto vocal runs and an explosive Slash-style guitar climax.”

Billboard: “And while Daughtry’s voice and rock riffs still play center stage to most of the album’s tracks, several songs take some creative chances. Daughtry wrote ‘You Don’t Belong’ on his own; it’s a hard-driving song that wouldn’t sound out of place on an Alice in Chains album.”

Daughtry will begin an extensive North American tour this fall.

    Tour Dates

    August
2 Orlando, FL House of Blues

Daughtry is an American Music Award-winning and Grammy-nominated rock band from North Carolina, formed by former American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry in 2006. Their self-titled debut album was released on November 21, 2006. The disc reached #1 for two non-consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200, outsold Idol winner Taylor Hicks’ debut effort, sold more than 4 million copies and was named the number one selling album of 2007 by Billboard.

Their album is also the fastest-selling debut rock album in Soundscan history. The first single from the album, "It’s Not Over", was the eighth most played song across all formats on U.S. radio in 2007, and their second single from the album, "Home", was the tenth most played song in the U.S. of 2007.

The band has been touring non-stop since January 2007. They have done shows across the U.S. and Canada, along with a show in the UK in June. They opened for Nickelback for a brief stint, Puddle of Mudd, and Finger Eleven and have featured 12 Stones and rock phenom Cinder Road and Eve To Adam as opening acts.

On May 27, 2007, the band performed during the Indianapolis 500 Pre-Race show on ABC, and headlined the 2007 Summerfest at the Marcus amphitheater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a crowd of more than 15,000 on July 7.
