Featuring the Top 11 Contestants from Season 10 and Hitting 45 Markets; Tickets Go On Sale Friday, May 13th at 10am

LOS ANGELES, California — AMERICAN IDOL will heat up arenas across North America, when AMERICAN IDOLS LIVE! returns for another summer jaunt, showcasing performances by this season’s top 11. The tour commences in West Valley City, UT at the Maverik Center on Wednesday July 6th and wraps up Saturday September 10th in Rochester, NY at the Blue Cross Arena. Tickets are available by clicking here

AMERICAN IDOLS LIVE! 2011 lineup promises to be the most memorable yet given the diverse and daring talent on the roster, and it’s hitting markets all across North America with 45 dates confirmed. The top 11 comprising the tour – Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhart, Jacob Lusk, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina, Naima Adedapo, Paul McDonald, Pia Toscano, Scotty McCreery, Stefano Langone, and Thia Megia – are primed and pumped to give fans a night of unique and unforgettable performances.

AMERICAN IDOL remains the #1 rated show in America, watched more than any other programming, and it’s because of the amazing talent. This year, iconic judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, and Jennifer Lopez went through a tight race to narrow the contestants down for America to decide who will be the next big star. Their wisdom, candor, and sense of humor continue to propel the show along at a lightning pace.

Watching AMERICAN IDOL at home is always enjoyable, but seeing these artists live is an experience. Past tours have featured current pop luminaries such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Adam Lambert, Lee DeWyze and so many more. Every summer, the tour keeps IDOL alive in arenas everywhere allowing the audiences the chance to get up close and personal with their favorite contestants. This top eleven will have crowds on their feet singing along to every word. Get ready…

The AMERICAN IDOL season finale will air on FOX May 26th, but the action will continue live on stage all summer with AMERICAN IDOLS LIVE! Don’t miss it when it hits a town near you.

On the May 10, 2006 results show Yamin, Taylor Hicks, and Katharine McPhee were announced as the top three finalists. All three returned to their respective hometowns for a day of festivities in their honor. Yamin’s homecoming visit included radio and television interviews; performing “Home” for more than 4,000 fans, capped by Mayor Douglas Wilder presenting the key to the city; and meeting Governor Tim Kaine, whom Yamin greeted with a hug. Elliott was eliminated from American Idol on May 17, 2006, after the tightest race; each of the three top contestants received an almost exactly equal percentage of the viewer votes necessary for advancement to the remaining two spots.

His self-titled album, released March 20, 2007, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart and at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The album was certified gold in the United States in October 2007. Retitled Wait for You, the album was released in Japan in May 2008 and certified gold in that country in September 2008. Yamin’s sophomore album, titled Fight for Love, is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2009. The album’s first single, “Fight for Love”, premiered on AOL Music on February 13, 2009. He recorded 35 songs from which to choose the final track list and worked with various producers including Jermaine Dupri, J.R. Rotem, Eman, Harvey Mason, Jr., Steve Russell and Stargate.

Hudson auditioned for the third season of American Idol, in Atlanta, Georgia. In her audition she commented that she had been singing on Disney Cruise Lines for the past few months (as one of the Muses from Hercules); and contestant judge Randy Jackson said, “We’re expecting more than a cruise ship performance from you.” Jennifer delivered and all the judges agreed it was the best voice they had heard so far in the competition. She was a member of the first group of semifinalists in the Semifinals. She was not voted through to the final round, although she was brought back on the wild card round and put through as a “Top 12″ finalist by Jackson.

Hudson struggled to gain popularity in the early stages of Idol’s live shows, receiving the second-lowest number of votes in two of the first three shows. However, after a change in song choices, she soon became a favorite to win, receiving the highest number of votes in the “Top 9″ after her performance of Elton John’s “Circle of Life,” on April 6, 2004. Among Hudson’s worthy performances on the show was her rendition of Whitney Houston’s, “I Have Nothing.” Contestant judge Simon Cowell commented that Hudson, “finally proved why she was among the ‘Top 12,’” and referred to the performance a week later as, “sensational.” During the “Top 7″ show, Hudson sang a show-stopping rendition of Barry Manilow’s, “Weekend in New England,” which garnered praise from all three judges. Jackson called the song Hudson’s best performance to date; and Simon Cowell noted that Hudson’s presence made the third season a, “Battle of the Divas,” referencing other powerful vocalists Fantasia Barrino and Latoya London. Despite this praise, Hudson was eliminated during this week, which some blamed in part on a power outage in Hudson’s hometown of Chicago due to storms and tornadoes in the area. On April 21, 2004, Hudson became the sixth of the 12 finalists to be voted off the show, finishing the competition in seventh place.

Jennifer is one of the few actors to have won all four major screen acting awards, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award, as well as a Grammy Award and more than twenty other prizes. After Idol she established herself as a solo recording artist and film actress, starring in the 2006 motion picture Dreamgirls for which she has won numerous awards. Her self-titled debut album was released in 2008 on Arista Records and soon certified gold by the RIAA for more than 500,000 shipped copies, spawning the number-one single “Spotlight.”

About the upcoming tour Jennifer said “I’m excited to get out and meet the people and sing for the people. I always love to perform live. The only other tour I’ve been part of is the (American) Idol tour, so this’ll be more intimate and personal.” About co-headlining the tour with Robin Thicke she said “I’m in a weird place,” she says, “like, ‘Wow, everybody knows Jennifer, but where do you place her? Who do you put her with? Where do I go?’ That was the hardest part of the puzzle to put together. I think we came out with a great solution.”

Jordin’s self titled debut album was certified Platinum in the U.S. on December 12, 2008. She is one of the few American Idol winners to have major success on the Billboard Hot 100, alongside Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. In the summer of 2006, Sparks auditioned twice for American Idol once in Los Angeles, CA (only auditioned for producers) and again in Seattle, WA after winning KSAZ Fox 10′s “Arizona Idol.” The Seattle audition is the one seen in the January 27, 2007 broadcast of American Idol where she earned a “gold ticket” and the right to appear in the Hollywood Round.

Jordin has not commented much on her second album. The as-of-yet untitled album started production in 2008 and is expected to be released in the 2nd quarter of 2009. Sparks’ second album is expected to have a higher profile and better production than her first due to the great success of the album itself and its four singles. Sparks said she plans on working with Jesse McCartney and Leona Lewis on her new album in a interview on the radio show “Johnjay & Rich” the morning after her appearance at the 2008 American Music Awards. She said the album will be more R&B and dance influenced, and will sound more Beyoncé meets Rihanna. On a update on her MySpace Sparks stated she was “in the studio and writing amazing songs!”
